Democrat Barack Obama has won his party’s South Carolina primary with 55 percent of the vote.
Obama also won a symbolic victory in Sunday’s New York Times: Caroline Kennedy endorsed him in an op-ed piece titled “A President Like My Father.” She is the daughter of former president John F. Kennedy.
Kennedy’s endorsement is emphatic. She concludes: “I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them. But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans.”
