Barack Obama‘s grandmother has died of cancer in Hawaii.
Madelyn Dunham was 86. Details from The Honolulu Advertiser and The Chicago Tribune.
Cancer wasn’t mentioned by name when Obama visited Dunham last week. But since Obama took an extraordinary day off from campaigning to visit her, it was assumed that she was close to death.
The Advertiser notes that “Dunham had already voted for her grandson in early, absentee voting.”
