Confirmed: It’s Fossett‘s plane.
“The crash looked so severe, I doubt if someone could have walked away from it,” says the sheriff.
Update: Reuters now says that a “very small” amount of human remains have been found at the site. The NY Times says “the remains were a small bone fragment that would be sent to the state’s Justice Department for forensic analysis.”
Although nothing is yet confirmed, this seems to close the book on Fossett and his remarkable story. Perhaps it wasn’t so unlike him after all to go out with a big finish.
