Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this morning. That means an early spring, if you believe in a groundhog’s ability to predict the weather.
Phil sees his shadow 5 out of 6 years on average, so this is a special year. His overall record is now:
- 98 years of shadow
- 15 years of no shadow
There were also 9 years with no record, in case you’re counting carefully. And if you are, the killjoy scientists at NOAA have a message for you: the whole thing is bunk.
But are those scientists as cute as a groundhog?
