Actress Susanne Pleshette has died at age 70. She had surgery in 2006 for lung cancer.
Pleshette is best known for her stint as Bob Newhart‘s no-nonsense wife in the 1970s sitcom The Bob Newhart Show. Among her many other roles, she played “Queen of Mean” Leona Helmsley in a 1990 TV movie, and a schoolteacher in the 1963 Alfred Hitchcock suspense classic The Birds.
