Remember Tareq Salahi and his wife Michaela Salahi? Last November they were busted for making it into a White House state dinner without an invitation. They mingled with Barack Obama and Joe Biden, then they had a long talk with the Secret Service about how they managed to get past security. The Salahis said it was a mix-up, and so far there have been no repercussions from the long arm of the law.
At the time there was a rumor that the whole episode was a publicity stunt for a new Bravo TV reality series, The Real Housewives of Washington, D.C.. Bravo didn’t exactly admit it, and they didn’t exactly deny it.
Well, guess what? it was reported that Michaela has been confirmed as one of the “stars” of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Washington, D.C. Here’s a gallery of the wives appearing on the show.
Andy Cohen, an executive with Bravo, wrote a defense (sort of) of the Salahis in The Huffington Post. But Cohen addresses the rumor that the Salahis were auditioning for the show, calling the notion “preposterous” because they had been shooting “for months.” That explanation still doesn’t answer the question, “was it a publicity stunt for Bravo’s new TV show?”
