Harvard formally installs its first female president today. She is Drew Gilpin Faust — Civil War historian, former dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, and thrillseeker.
Only 27 men have been president of Harvard since Henry Dunster became dude #1 in 1640. That’s 367 years, divided by 27 presidents, equals an impressive average of 13.59 years per prez.
Retroactive props to The Harvard Crimson, the student paper that scooped the pros and broke the Faust story back in January.
