A pilot spotted wreckage of an airplane near Mammoth Lakes last night, reports The Reno Gazette Journal.
The wreckage could be the plane of Steve Fossett.
The Associated Press quotes authorities: “If Fossett survived a crash, he may have hiked through rugged terrain to the site where the IDs were found.”
Good grief, could he really have survived and have been walking around up there?
[Update: Reuters says there’s a “strong likelihood” the plane is Fossett’s.]
