Julia Garner won two Emmy awards for her role on Ozark as Ruth Langmore, a slight but sly country criminal (2019 and 2020).
Born and raised in New York, she entered the acting profession by way of independent films, first getting noticed as a wide-eyed waif cult member in 2011’s Martha Marcy May Marlene.
sent her on the path to indie-film stardom. She got that part at an open-casting audition when she was only 15 years old. Garner also appeared in The Perks of Being A Wallflower (2012, starring Emma Watson), Electrick Children (2012)and Grandma (2015, starring Lily Tomlin).
On television, she’s a critical favorite for her performances in The Americans (2015-18, starring Matthew Rhys), Waco (2018, starring Michael Shannon) and Maniac (2018, starring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone).
Her other films include Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt), I Believe in Unicorns (2014) and The Assistant (2019).
