Facts about Matthew Rhys
Matthew Rhys Biography
Matthew Rhys is a Welsh actor known for his roles in the American televisions shows Brothers & Sisters and The Americans.
Rhys got his acting training as a student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, and in a few short years made a splash on the London stage in a 2000 production of The Graduate (opposite Kathleen Turner). Television and film work followed, and Rhys made his mark in the American television series Brothers & Sisters (2006-11), in part because his character was the first gay character to be wed in a civil union on a network TV show (in 2008).
He won accolades for playing Dylan Thomas in The Edge of Love (2008, with Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley), but his role as a Soviet agent living as a suburban American dad in The Americans — opposite his real-life wife, Keri Russell — put Rhys in a brighter spotlight as an American TV star.
